Today is the last day of the early registration discount for my Lightroom class March 20-21. Register today and save $50!
Thanks to everyone who has already registered. There are just a few spots remaining. If you know other photographers who can benefit from learning Lightroom in a weekend, please forward this email to them.
Bret Edge and I are leading another workshop together, this one in Wyoming June 10-13, 2010. Grand Tetons and Yellowstone in the springtime… oh my!
We’ll shoot at all the iconic spots around Jackson Hole, including the Snake River Overlook made famous by Ansel Adams, plus some very out of the way, special places known only to a few. Bret and I have photographed around Jackson Hole on many occasions and can guide you to the best locations.
And you’ll learn all the best workflows for processing your photos in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop!
Thursday June 10 – our group will meet in the early afternoon in Jackson. After a brief introduction we’ll spend the rest of the afternoon shooting around Jackson Hole.
Friday June 11 – after a sunrise shoot at Schwabacher Landing, we’ll have a short break for personal time. Then we’ll spend a few hours working on processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. Following this, we’ll venture out to shoot all afternoon and through sunset.
Saturday June 12 – essentially the same schedule as Friday, at all kinds of different locations…. Oxbow Bend, Antelope Flats, Mormon Row (pictured), etc.
Sunday June 13 – sunrise shoot; workshop concludes.
We’ll have three sunrise shoots, three sunset shoots and plenty of shooting during each day. We will have the chance to revisit some locations more than once.
We will have around 8 hours classroom time. It’s also possible that we’ll have a printer on-site for participants to make prints, though this is still TBD.
Private and group critiques will be done throughout the workshop to help you develop your work significantly over the weekend.
We’ll also make sure to have some occasional free time throughout the workshop, for participants to take a break and do their own thing.
(And yes, during the weekend there will be time to visit Yellowstone.)
Bret is handling registration… his web page for our workshop is HERE
I’m partnering with Professional Photographers of Colorado to present a full day class detailing all the essential aspects of the modern photography workflow.
We’ll cover everything from editing shoots in Lightroom to advanced image processing with Photoshop. We’ll also talk a lot about using metadata and other best-practices for pro or aspiring photographers.
The class is in downtown Denver, all day Sunday Feb 21. PPC is offering special pricing for the event. For more info and registration click here.
I’m planning a Photoshop workshop with Bret Edge in 2010. We’re very interested to learn the major topics, techniques, tricks etc. that nature and landscape photographers are most interested in, confused about, etc. Please reply here with your thoughts. Thanks!
In January I’ll be conducting an intensive, one-day Adobe Lightroom workshop at the Lone Tree Civic Center in South Denver, Colorado. We’re tentatively planning for Saturday, January 23rd, 2010. (OMG…. where did 2009 go???)
In this workshop, you will learn:
– an easy-to-adopt, end-to-end workflow using Adobe Lightroom
– navigation tips and techniques for the Lightroom Library, to speed your image editing and asset management
– color correction secrets of the pros, for squeezing the very best photograph out of your digital exposures
– the basics of the Slideshow and Web modules, for streamlined output
– the basics of Photoshop CS4 integration into the Lightroom workflow
Bringing your own laptop computer is highly recommended! While you can certainly follow along in this workshop without a computer, you will get the most out of it if you are working on your own laptop, hands-on. It is highly recommended that you bring a laptop computer, with a copy of the latest version of Lightroom installed. A free, trial version of Lightroom can be downloaded and used for 30 days, from here.
This workshop is perfect for any serious amateur or professional photographer who wants to get a solid foundation in the basics of Adobe Lightroom, all the way from the Library Module to the Web Module. If you live in Colorado and want to have a chance to learn Lightroom from one of the original Adobe Lightroom team members and the former Adobe Pro Photography Evangelist, then this workshop is for you.
This all-day Lightroom workshop will be $99, with a discount offered to qualifying Denver-area camera-club members. If you are interested in attending, please e-mail me at [email protected] to reserve your space, or check back here for the final date and location to be posted before the end of December. Reserving your space with me in advance is highly recommended, as space will be limited!
Last night I made a Lightroom presentation to one of the more established photo clubs in the Denver area. It was a blast! Great turnout, lots of good questions and interaction and we all had a good time exploring the advantages of Lightroom in a digital photography workflow.
I brought all the remaining copies of my book that I had; unfortunately several people didn’t get one… I ran out. (You can get them on Amazon.com)
Dick York founded Denver Digital Photo Club 6 years ago – a long time in terms of digital photography – and of clubs. They’ve been holding a monthly meeting every month all these years, and it showed… lots’ of camaraderie.
My thanks to Dick and the club members for a warm welcome and a nice evening. Cheers!
I’m teaching a workshop with Bret Edge in Moab Oct 23-26. We’ll be shooting the canyon country sunrise/sunset and holding digital workflow classes during the day. If you’re in the area, give me a shout.
I’m teaching a two-day Lightroom class this coming weekend in downtown Denver. I will cover the program in its entirety, as well as demonstrating my complete digital photo workflow using Lightroom and Photoshop.
